No More Sky Sports News On Freeview

As all sports fans probably already know, Sky Sports News is no longer going to be available on Freeview from the 23rd of August. This is something I felt the need to blog about considering I'm currently living in a house that doesn't have Sky Sports.

In my opinion, I think Sky Sports News moving off Freeview is a bad idea and I don't think half as many people are going to watch it as they do now. For a lot of people, including myself, who don't have access to the main Sky Sports channels, this is their way of keeping up to date with the latest scores of the games that they are unable to watch as they don't have these TV packages.

I'm pretty sure one of the reason they have decided to move it is because I can imagine that Gillette Soccer Saturday which is presented by Jeff Stelling is probably incredibly popular due to the humour and witty comments that are produced by Jeff and all the other football pundits, week in, week out. I understand that Sky is a business at the end of the day and that they want to make as much profit as possible but come on, seriously?

I was pretty gutted when I found out I would no longer be able to watch Sky Sports News on Freeview as it's one of few programmes that I actually watch due to having a Freeview box in my bedroom. However, I think there is now a chance for someone to make a similar free version of the channel which I think would pick up major profits.

What do you all think about this change?

The Tangerine Army Are Absolutely Flying!

Doesn't the World Cup feel like such a long time ago now? Just as everyone has started to settle from everything that happened over in South Africa the Premier League is now upon us! Although, I'm not complaining because I've missed catching up on all the football results every Saturday.

You know, after so many people have predicted for Blackpool to get absolutely hammered in this league I was so pleased that they managed to absolutely batter Wigan today. I know that there is still a long way to go in the season but you just never know in football. I mean, how many times have we seen clubs come up that nobody even gives a slight glimmer of hope, yet they go on and manage to stay a float in their first season? Wolves and Birmingham did it last season so you can never totally write off Blackpool. I understand when people say that they don't have enough quality in their squad and everything but sometimes I think that some players who play at the top clubs and know they are going to get paid ridiculous amounts of money every week don't try half as hard as the players at the clubs who have just come up do and sometimes it's that passion that can keep a club up. I really do hope that Blackpool can prove everyone wrong because I believe Ian Holloway is a great manager and he has worked wonders at that club. To go from being favourites to be relagated last season to finishing the season winning the play-off final at Wembley to take their place in this years Premier League on a small budget is pretty amazing, don't you think?

A New Beginning!

I've had this blog hanging around for a while just doing nothing because to be honest, I totally lost interest in it. However, after reading a few other blogs online I've decided to give this blog another go but with a different spin on things this time.

I'm a firm believer that if you're going to be successful blogger and are going to be in it for the long run then you have to make sure that you are blogging about something that interests you and that makes you want to keep coming back to create more blog posts. I don't think this is what I was doing before and after a while it became effort rather than something I actually wanted to do.

This time I'm just going to blog about things that I'm interested in or that I feel strongly about. We live in a crazy world and there is always something going on that gets everyone talking so I figured that I'd blog about all those things. Hopefully we can build up a pretty good community here and as I'm a fan of friendly banter I'm hopeful that readers will leave comments on my posts with their thoughts and opinions whether they agree with me or not.

Anyway, that's about it for now I think.

I'll speak to you all soon!
